Vancouver Heritage Study Guide for Schools: Connecting new curriculum with local heritage and history resources for classrooms

VHF's Heritage Study Guide for Schools is a pilot project that will share a collection of online resources, lesson and field trip ideas related to heritage and local history, that connect to BC Curriculum Social Studies generally, and Grades 4/5 and Grades 9-11 specifically. VHF will present this workshop session with the VSB Archives & Heritage Committee Chair. A general introduction to the Heritage Study Guide components and best resources will be followed by a discussion, opportunities for feedback and participation in the creation of the Study Guide (Phase 1).

We welcome input, suggestions, and feedback from educators' experiences in using and looking for resource materials in teaching local heritage and history in classrooms. Opportunities for field trips, class visits from Vancouver Heritage Foundation and associates are available, and we welcome collaborations and project feedback in the coming school year.
