Facilitating Philosophical Dialogue in the Classroom

One of the great joys of doing philosophy is engaging in dialogue as part of the search for answers to meaningful, yet difficult, questions. In this presentation (combined with a hands-on workshop) you will learn what makes philosophical inquiry dialogue unique and how it contributes to the development of good thinking, philosophical insight, and a robust community of inquiry. You will learn how to distinguish between philosophical dialogue and the mere sharing of opinions, how to recognize fruitful philosophical inquiry questions, and you will gain some key skills for facilitating dialogue in accordance with the UNESCO endorsed Philosophy for Children approach.
