The Power of Story: bringing literature into the social studies classroom

History provides context for literature; literature puts a human face on history

Using literary texts, including poetry, and strategies such as drama, this workshop will explore effective ways to  enhance and enrich the social studies experience.  Novels, short fiction, poetry and drama all have a role to play.

In so far as Zoom permits, this session will engage participants in hands-on activities, all of which may be applied or adapted to whatever topics are the focus in the classroom at any given time.
